Arena Website Accessibility Statement

 

Bedford Borough Libraries are responsible for this website, on behalf of Bedford Borough and Central Bedfordshire Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use the website.

This document describes how we are complying with the relevant laws and standards with any known accessibility problems, and how you can report issues to us so that we can remedy them.

How accessible is the website?

 

This website is largely compliant with the relevant laws and standards, but we are aware that there are certain shortcomings.

Technical information on website accessibility

This website is largely compliant with level AA in the standard Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1. The content that is not accessible is described below.

 

  • It seems that some form fields have no labels or are marked incorrectly. (WCAG AA 1.3.5)
  • It seems that tables are used for styling. (DIGG R83)
  • It seems that buttons have no explanatory text. (WCAG A 2.5.3)
  • Some parts have insufficient tab focus marking. (WCAG AA 2.4.7)
  • Search suggestions cannot be read by screen readers. (WCAG A 1.3.1)
  • It seems that headers have incorrect header levels. (WCAG A 1.3.2)
  • Roles are missing for some parts/functions on the website. (WCAG A 1.3.1)
  • It is not possible to navigate all parts of “My pages” via the keyboard. (WCAG AA 2.4.5)
  • The content has an incorrect structure which causes problems for some aids with reading out the text. (WCAG A 1.3.1, A 1.3.2)

We are constantly working to maintain our website and improve its accessibility. Our ambition is to have remedied all known accessibility problems during Q2 2021.

Unreasonably burdensome adaptation

 

Bedford Borough Council refers to exceptions for unreasonably burdensome adaptation in accordance with the relevant laws and standards on digital accessibility of public services for the following content.

  • Search suggestions cannot be read by screen readers. (WCAG A 1.3.1)
  • Timer function that counts down until the page becomes outdated

A lot of effort will be required in order to remedy these problems, and we will be unable to get this done prior to Q2 2021.

How we tested the website

Our supplier has worked in compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA when developing and designing the website.

We have estimated accessibility without review.
